Txalaparta

About the show

The txalaparta is a traditional percussion instrument from the Basque Country. It makes sounds when it is struck with two sticks, but once the performers stop playing, neither of them owns what has just been heard; it can’t be held down, its nature defies restraint; each stroke becomes something liberating that alters the very soul of whoever plays it. The listening and the perception of one’s own body become deeper, they become flight. It is the multiplication of the powers of action; it is the proof of the hotchpotch of diverse materials of which we are made.

* For the general public.

* Show with live music.
