About the show
Ever since I set out on my career as a creator, my medium has been non-linear narrative. This way of doing beats naturally and allows me to explore fragmented physicality, open space, changing light and an eclectic soundtrack. I cannot conceive of mobility without an idea of lighting, space and rhythm, which is always changing.
The layers of the piece revolve around a concept that one can’t help but be curious about, in this case, one’s offspring. A son talks about his bond with his progenitors and with a place. Somehow or other, it’s about understanding oneself as an individual who is breaking free, but who is deeply entangled in a repetition of forms and facts. Something that can only be partially explained because, in the end, the individual always carries with him the reinterpretation of that history with him, like an echo.
A man in nature: his arrival, the magic of birth, development linked to the primary and culture. Through the poetics of image and sound, a descendant is presented, and, although they are not present, I speak of progenitors, places and, above all, magic. And the thing is that dance allows us to celebrate being alive and having a history; the experience of being a child and its enthusiasm; the relationship with the natural cycles and systems; and in this, the set of internal and external reactions that make one exist.
In the piece, a body of today, mobile and conscious alternates against other worlds, which, although they are not visible, nevertheless affect and guide us along paths, sensations in the body in the face of facts projected in light and shadow. With these words, I give you "The Son".
