Chaillot Théâtre national de la Danse | Rachid Ouramdane
Contre-nature
About the show
In this new work, choreographer Rachid Ouramdane takes our idea of movement one step further in his ongoing exploration of aerial gestures. Alongside him, 10 performers from the Théâtre National de la Danse - Chaillot, each with their own style and technique. We need people with very different backgrounds, people who are equally at home in the air and on the ground.
We need all these ways of dancing, of moving, of throwing ourselves into the air, and we need to share all this, explains the choreographer. To achieve this, a group of 10 performers, each with their own subtle style of movement, combine and intertwine their languages to create a new one at the point where dance meets aerial performance.
On a bare stage, sometimes outlined by the lighting, sometimes by images projected onto a fog, Rachid Ouramdane evokes both childhood and old age. Using elements that evoke passing and absence, he imagines how we manage to carry on, influenced by those who have passed on, those ghosts that walk beside us.
